| | Hey Guys! Okay, this is exciting. Yesterday I put up my first podcast. For a while now it has been my goal to expand Copper Moon E-zine (especially moving it forward technologically). Now you can listen to this recording. More details and the link to the podcast can be found by clicking here: If this link doesn't work, visit www.copper-moon.com and scroll to read the post January 23rd. I'd enjoy feedback and suggestions so feel free to e-mail me: BeautyLoveSpirit@gmail.com | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| | At Walmart yesterday, I was shopping (like many others) for Thanksgiving supplies. Cranberry sauce, check. Stuffing, check. Gravy, check. All the fixin's. It was busy and there were a bit of people hunting down their supplies. Yet, the bread asile was relatively open. It was there that I overheard something that made me smile and think. This young male worker walked hestaily up to an elderly lady with two cans of pumpkin pie mix in hand. Apparently she was searching for the mix but couldn't find it. He was smiling and asked which one she wanted. He told her he brought both so she could have the exact kind she wanted. He had long brown hair and a shy smile. The woman was so thankful and touched that he took the time to help her. It felt so genuine, his desire to help her and then her appreciation. They probably had nothing in common at all except that exchange. She asked his name, he said it was Brandon. And then he wanted to know if he could help her with anything else. Walmart workers don't make a lot of money, many service/retail jobs are difficult work: long hours, lack of appreciation. It was until recently that I started working retail at a home decor store. Many customers are respectful. You get the occassional rude ones: on the phone while checking out, tossing money at you instead of handing it, the "go fetch for me" variety and then the "you are beneath me types." About a week ago I had an incident where I was ringing up customers and the other register went down. Naturally, I was handed a special discount card that I had never seen before. I followed the directions, typed in the special code ... it wouldn't go through. My manager was trying to fix the broken register and the line was growing long. Finally after a few attempts (and what felt like hours) my manager helped out and it went through. As I finished the transaction the customer looks at my name tag, tilts her head ever so slightly, says my name and goes "we all learn from doing." It was the most condescending line i've heard. If anyone deserved to be hit in the head with christmas potpourri it was *this* lady! So, my point is that this holiday season we will all be shopping, whether for food, clothes or gifts. And I just want to offer a kind reminder that retail/service workers are human too. Many want to help, want you to enjoy your shopping experience . . . just remember that it doesn't hurt to have compassion, patience and understanding. I hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving. That you take the time to appreciate those in your life and be thankful for all the spiritual gifts you have in your heart! Brightest Blessings, ~ Gwinevere Rain www.Copper-Moon.com

| | For a while here I thought life was just tossing me curve balls. Then it seemed like everyone got hit by the financial crisis add to that a whole bunch of political stuff which has been bombarding us. I was so hoping that Hilary Clinton would be the democratic nominee. Now, I am supporting Obama, but still I was pushing for Clinton because she really had a calm, smart approach. However, Obama is growing on me these days . . . especially when he mentioned helping us regular people instead of those with the big bucks. Anyway, this fall I was supposed to go right into a new college. That didn't happen due to certain circumstances (i.e, my car breaking). So now I am learning the world of retail sales and deeply looking forward to the cool weather that fall should bring. I live in Florida so . . . the cold doesn't come until mid to late October. I guess what with all of my "supposed to" and "wished for" not really working out it puts life in a new light. Sometimes all sorts of planning don't prepare you for what really happens. I am thankful that this hurricane season has spared my area, thankful for the support of friends and curious to know what changes will come my way. During this time of change and rebirth I put my faith in a higher power. I don't believe that our lives are predestined or god's plan etc. However, having faith when times are difficult is important. Its about trying to see the silver lining when something unexpected happens, turning to the divine ones instead of pushing them aside. There is a saying in Wicca "Goddess helps those who help themselves." This is something I try to keep in mind as much as possible. If I want change I have to be the catalyst that puts things in motion. Many of you are like me struggling with gas prices/money matters, family concerns, love drama, school craziness. I hope you stay strong through tough times. Have faith in yourself, (hopefully) a higher power and be a friend for someone else going through challenging times. I hope you all have a lovely Samhain. This is the time to "let go" and release a build up of past pain. Put your past in the past and take a step forward to new beginnings. Enjoy right now, as you are, all your beauty, all your flaws. Love & Light, ~ Gwinevere Rain Don't forget to visit Copper Moon E-zine!

| For the past year Copper Moon E-zine has been adapting to a blog/magazine hybrid format. Now that we've got a rhythm to the posts and finding our voice, I've updated the site with a fresh new look! Readers will find a more streamlined (and more male friendly) appearance. It's even easier to read with a classic font. Navigation is functional, flowing smoothly but also visually appealing. A category cloud has brought a little more fun by bolding the most recently updated categories. As always Copper Moon will evolve but you'll always be able to find favorite features like interviews, book reviews and articles written by young writers in their teens and twenties. Please continue to support Copper Moon by reading, subscribing, writing articles, sharing our link and visiting our fantastic sponsors! | Merry Meet All!
It has been sometime that i've put up a new blog post. Since my March entry regarding spring break and a broken heart, I have grown and learned many lessons. Currently, I am on hiatus from college classes. It is a welcomed time to catch my breath and renew my spirit. My faith has been pulling me through the hard times along with kind and comforting friends (you know who you are).
Its amazing how much you can learn from other people if you just take the time to listen. I've found sage advice about love and life from men and women of all ages. It seems that everyone has been hurt by others, you just have to get up, dust yourself off and move forward. I know that from my heart breaks i've come out stronger and better than before. I also believe in my own capacity to love . . . so when I find the right person i'll be able to gift this love to them.
One useful tool that i've found helpful is the Tarot. This system of divination which, at one point, I found utterly overwhelming, now speaks to me like a special language. It has deep layers of knowledge and advice. I am profoundly changed by the Tarot and excited about my own developing capabilities when it comes to reading the cards.
Experiencing a reading can sometimes be difficult, because it will tell you that your holding yourself back, or letting others influence you too much etc. Sometimes the truth is difficult to handle, but knowing it can alter the very way you see things. The reason why I picked Tarot back up was because someone read for me. I was almost shaken by the results, but it was a truth that I needed to hear. And as a result ... I started learning about the cards myself.
If you are interested in discussing Tarot with me and other young adult Wiccans visit this forum on my message board The Wicca Cauldron: http://com3.runboard.com/bgwinevererainswiccacauldron.f11 Its free to join and fun to connect with others interested in the same topic!
Another great place to visit is my e-zine Copper Moon (http://www.copper-moon.com). Just about once a week we have a new book review or article posted. Right now I am in the process of obtaining several author interviews for future updates. I'd love to hear more from readers like you! Many teen and twenty-something Wiccan want to hear about your opinions and experiences so consider writing an article! Take a look at the top message titled "Copper Moon Call for Submissions" for some ideas, suggestions and tips. Okay, so thats all for now. Wishing everyone a lovely Summer Solstice (free, solitary ritual to be posted soon on Copper Moon).

I have over 600 "friends" on myspace. Which is fantastic! Except when trying to write a blog because I get all paranoid thinking: OMG 600 people are going to read this? I mean we aren't talking about a how-to guide for creating the ritual mood here, we're talking personal updates on my life. So telling you all how I got dumped by yet another guy doesn't exactly sit well with me. But its the truth. And I’d rather be honest than lie my butt off. Besides it always made me shutter when people sent me messages saying things like "your life must be so cool!" It's so not. Especially during times like this. I get dumped like everyone else (hasn't happened to you yet? lucky!). Let me tell you - it hurts like hell. Especially when you pretty much fell in love and weren't expecting it. So for the past few weeks I’ve been sitting around thinking, no obsessing about what I could have done differently. I guess there were a few things. . . But more so my focus simply *has* to be moving forward. Maybe not with a new relationship just yet, but life. I've had some really amazing friends helping me through this time. Thank you friends, you know who you are, you're fabulous. I seriously don't know how you put up with me! So future things, right, okay. I am finally going to transfer out of my community college to a big bad university. I always assumed I’d major in English or Writing. That was just "my path," or "meant to be." Right. Right?!? Actually . . . I am leaning towards something else. I am going to keep mum about it until I’ve fully 100% decided. As always, the e-zine (my baby) will continue to be a part of my future. The semi-new blog/magazine hybrid format has worked out great. I spend more time on the articles, interviews, book reviews themselves than formatting. Going it old school was a pain in my Wiccan ass. Honestly. Now its so streamlined. I love the direction its heading it. Have you read some of these fantastic articles lately? Oh my gosh, go now and read: Copper Moon E-zine. I hope everyone here, all 600 of you have been doing well. Its spring break time so for my high school and college myspace friends I offer you words of wisdom: Do wear sunscreen; Do *not* drink and drive; Check in with your parents (they really do care); and have safe responsible fun. Until next update . . . Love & Light, ~ Gwinevere Rain | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Hey Friends, It has been sometime since I updated my blog. Lots has happened in my life since November. I somehow survived my British Literature class (and got an "A" too!). My college went on Winter Break for a few weeks. I actually managed to de-stress. It was so nice to stop worrying about homework and essay deadlines! During this time I grabed a new boyfriend, who is pretty fantastic. Since we are still new i'll hold off on plastering of photographs everywhere :) But the start of this new relationship has made me more happy and extreamly greatful. I was sick right around Yule and X-mas. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. By the way, as word of advice, don't watch crazy movies like Enternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which fighting a fever. It will mess with your head in unbelievable ways! lol :) As to the e-zine, Copper Moon, I am working hard to keep it going. I am in the process of combining my author website Gothic-Rain with Copper Moon. Details can be found here . It is both an exciting and arguous process. It will take some time and more than a few weekends to fully complete. However, I believe the end result will be worth it! I'd love to read more submissions. If you are 13 to 26 years old and interested in contributing, please visit the writers guidelines page!
What's next for me? Spring semester at school full time and keeping the e-zine going, because its a worthwhile site that can make a difference for young adult Wiccan/Pagan practitioners. | Hi Guys, It’s September! I am so happy because that means Mabon (fall equinox) is approaching and the Florida air should finally start cooling off. This summer has been way too hot, I have long dreamed of the cool fall winds. Mabon will be on September 23 this year. Mark your datebooks and start your ritual planning! One other item to take note of is a program on the National Geographic channel tonight will feature Wiccans. For more detailed information visit this post on Copper Moon: http://www.copper-moon.com/2007/09/national-geogra.html On a more personal note, I have moved into a new place (the county below where I previously lived). Moving, they say is one of the most stressful things you can go through. I believe that fully and completely lol! But all is getting settled now. I am adjusting and looking forward to investing my time back into my blog magazines. Speaking of . . . We are looking for fresh voices to contribute to Copper Moon E-zine. Please visit the site www.copper-moon.com and click on “writer guidelines” in the left column for more info. We are especially seeking more young *females* to contribute! Submit your articles, write about anything Wiccan/Pagan related. It can be an opinion piece, how-to, essay on topics like Magick, Coming Out of the Broomcloset, Creating Your Own Tools, Mabon Ritual Suggestions, How You Connect with Goddess/God, Drying Herbs, Charging Crystals for Healing. | Hi Guys :) I know I haven't posted here in a little while but "busy" doesn't begin to explain all that has been going on! Most of my online time is focused towards my two blog magazines www.Copper-Moon.com and www.BeautyLoveSpirit.com. When not posting on these sites I am looking to find ways to promote them and get more visitors. Another recent happening: I finally finished my college psychology class! It was interesting and a little boring, to be honest. I bet you didn't know that one psychologist coined the term "womb envy" when describing men's reaction to women's natural biological processes. Ha! Take that you . . . you men! This month I also turned 23 which made me feel all nostalgic . It was very nice of several people to drop a comment wishing me a happy birthday. I greatly appreciated those notes! Some of my own family members didn't even bother to send an e-mail or a birthday card ... what's up with that? To make things even more busy/chaotic i'll be moving at the end of this month. Moving = stress, doesn't it? How about adding in the start of fall term for college around the same time. Yup, more stress. But this is life! One of the reasons why I bring up this move is because I am selling several new and gently used metaphysical books on eBay. Visit my listing here: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgwinevererain They are all listed at a great price, starting at 3.99! Everything from wicca for men to goddess books to gargoyles! Check em' out! Okay, hope everyone is keeping cool this summer. Fall is just around the corner!
